WHAT WE CREATE
We are passionate about music performance, and we work with creative professionals in conceiving imaginative events and videos that show the art of playing an instrument under a new light. Our work combines low- and high-tech tools to a heightened sense of the craftmanship involved in music-making, resulting in creations that show the beauty of music performance in a unique way.
This is a series exploring classical and popular music from Brazil in the 20th and 21st centuries. Each of the three episodes is filled with aesthetic experimentation drawing on the visual possibilities of music performance, in a way that is integrated into the setting of the recordings: the Embassy’s stunning Sala Brasil.
Marés was commissioned by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and recorded at the Sala Brasil of the Embassy of Brazil in London.

Mā, for guitar
Mā is the result of a collaboration with the Chinese composer Sun Keting. In Japanese, the concept of mā refers to the perception of space, a gap or interval, the space in between. This powerful idea, together with explorations on the concepts of 'emptiness', resulted in this superb, challenging, and unique work for solo guitar. This video is an exploration of the aesthetic concepts of the work, guided only by the concept itself and the performative gestures.
Commissioned by the Chinese Arts Now.
